Beer and music go hand in hand, but that is just one of the ways our collaboration with the band Buellton makes so much sense. Here at the brewery, we share a friendship with the guys in the band, as well as a similar approach to doing things, a similar aesthetic, and similar tastes. We are pleased to announce that Telegraph is releasing Buellton's new record, Silent Partner, as a bottle of beer. The beer, also called Silent Partner, is a Belgian-style saison, with a complex citrusy aroma, creamy mouthfeel, and satisfyingly dry finish. The bottle label contains the track listing for the album, and a digital download code to access the music is found between the cork and the cage.

Well, our vaguely autumn-like weather has finally arrived here in Santa Barbara, and that must mean that our Winter Ale is available. Nothing pairs quite as nicely with Thanksgiving desserts as our Mexican-style hot chocolate-inspired beer, with its hints of cinnamon, allspice, and Ancho chilis. It really feels seasonal. Bottles are available at the brewery and around town just in time for the holiday weekend.

Speaking of the holiday weekend, we're open Tuesday and Wednesday this week until 8 pm to ensure you have the growlers, bottles, and kegs you need to make your Thanksgiving festive. We'll be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but we will be open on Friday and Saturday from 2 pm to 10 pm, and then also on Sunday from 1 pm to 7 pm.

We've got lots of exciting things going on this week! First off, we're rolling out our beer in Arizona. We've teamed up with Hensley Beverage Co. to bring a taste of Santa Barbara to the desert. We have two events scheduled in the Phoenix area... if you live in the Grand Canyon State, we'd love to see you there!

Both events will have special limited-release beers on hand. Sour Cherry Kriek anyone? Or how about Reserve Wheat Berliner Weisse? Bourbon-barrel aged saison? Or our Winter Ale, a beer inspired by Mexican hot chocolate with cinnamon, allspice, and Ancho chilis? All great stuff!

The new tasting room is open! After a very long construction project, we are so pleased to be able to tell you that we have re-opened to the public. The move to our new facility (immediately next door to our old brewery) is finally complete and the best part is our new, extended tasting room hours. You can now come by Telegraph Tuesdays through Thursdays from 2 pm to 8 pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 2 pm to 10 pm, and Sundays from noon to 6 pm for brewery-fresh beer, growlers and bottles to go, and a whole new array of fun apparel. Our new address is 418 N. Salsipuedes St., between Haley and Gutierrez Sts., in downtown Santa Barbara.

With ten taps pouring all of our year-round and seasonal beers, you'll find something for every taste. Right now we're pouring our award-winning California Ale, Stock Porter, White Ale, Ravena Stout, Prime Meridian, Rye Extra Pale, and our 1927 Ale. Telegraph wins bronze! This past weekend, we won a bronze medal at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival (GABF), marking the third year in a row in which we've won awards at the world's largest beer competition.

We were awarded a bronze medal in the Belgian- and French-Style Ale category for our flagship California Ale, a Belgian-Style Pale Ale characterized by its deep amber color and complex, earthy flavors and aromas. Many congrats to our entire brewing staff... their hard work in the brewhouse continues to pay off for all of us in delicious, award-winning beer. Cheers guys!

We're moving to a new brewery! Yep, Telegraph is moving on up to 418 N. Salsipuedes, immediately next door to our current facility and we'll be up and running there in mid-September. Our construction project is progressing next door... for those of you who haven't been following along with us, Telegraph is expanding! We're taking over the building immediately next door to our current facility and greatly increasing our brewing capacity. It's a big project to say the least, but we do hope to be open by early summer at the new building. Stay tuned for details!

What are our Thanksgiving weekend hours? Glad you asked! The brewery and the tasting room will be closed on Thursday, but we'll have normal tasting room hours on Friday (from 4 pm to 8 pm) and on Saturday (from 2 pm to 6 pm). If you have relatives in town, bring them by and show them how great Santa Barbara beer can be!

If you need bottles or growlers for your Thanksgiving celebration (our Winter Ale makes for a killer pairing with pumpkin pie!), we'll be open on Monday through Wednesday until about 5 pm each day for beer to go. If you're having a big party and need a keg, give us some head's up and we'll reserve a keg and a tap for you. Cheers!

As of this weekend, our Abbey Ale makes its return to the Telegraph tasting room. This is a big, full-bodied mahogany ale, reminiscent of Belgium's finest Trappist beers. The World Beer Cup is an international beer competition held every two years. This year it drew nearly 4,000 entries from 850 different breweries in almost 60 countries. This means you are putting your beer up against the best in the world. And winning a medal means your beer is judged to be one of the best in the world. We're so happy to say that Telegraph won two medals at the 2012 WBC! Our Petit Obscura took gold in the Experimental Beer category and our Rhinoceros Rye Wine took a bronze in the other Belgian-Style Ale category. We are really happy with the results!

What is our holiday schedule here at the brewery, you ask? Well... our tasting room will be closed on Christmas Eve, but we will be open on Thursday, Dec. 22, and Friday, Dec. 23, for our normal tasting room hours. And if you need to pick up a growler or a gift certificate, we'll be here all day on those days. As for New Year's Weekend we'll have our normal hours all weekend long. That's Thursday from 4 to 6 pm, Friday from 4 to 8 pm, and on New Year's Eve from 2 to 6 pm. If you need a keg for your NYE party, reserve early because demand will be high.

It's Fiesta Season again here in Santa Barbara, and that means that our Cerveza de Fiesta Pilsner is available again. This is our version of a classic, Bohemian-style pilsner: lots of big malt character balanced with the traditional Saaz hop flavors and aroma. It's crisp and refreshing and the perfect accompaniment to great Mexican food and old and new friends. This week, May 16-22, is American Craft Beer Week. That means microbreweries and brewpubs all across the country are hosting special events, tastings, beer dinners, and doing all they can to support great beer. And Telegraph is joining the fun!

All weekend long at our tasting room, starting tomorrow evening from 4 to 6, we'll be pouring some special beers in addition to our regular line-up. We're rolling out some new beers in the next month. Our latest bottle offering, Telegraph Obscura Arborea, is a Flanders-style sour brown ale that we aged with oak and lactobacillus. It has rich dried fruit flavors and a bracingly refreshing tartness that makes this one quaffable wild ale. Aromas of cherries and brown sugar round this beer out nicely. Bottles will be available at the brewery in the next few days and soon will be available in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Bay Area. Look for it!

Many of you fondly remember our Pilsner from last summer. Well, get ready, because Telegraph Cerveza de Fiesta rides again just in time for Memorial Day. Kegs will be available first, at the tasting room and at select bars and restaurants around Santa Barbara. Bottles will follow in July and we'll certainly have plenty ready for Santa Barbara Fiesta in early August.

So it already made its debut last month in San Francisco, but we want to tell you more about our Petit Obscura. This is a new sour "wild ale" made with the second runnings of a batch of the Rhinoceros Rye Wine... it's a small beer with a twist, available in 750-ml bottles only, starting this month at the tasting room and around Southern California. Also look for Reserve Wheat bottles and Rhinoceros bottles available very soon.

Telegraph is hitting the road this week and heading north to The City by the Bay. We have two events in San Francisco to tell you about.

On Thursday night, January 20, from 6 to 8 pm, we'll be at the City Beer Store (1168 Folsom Street, between 7th and 8th) south of Market hosting a full line up of Telegraph sour beers. These "wild ales" have been fermented with wild yeast to create uniquely complex and sour flavors. The line-up includes the tasting-room favorite Reserve Wheat Ale, the last few cases of our delicious Gypsy Ale, and the debut of some new beers including Petit Obscura, Obscura Amber, and Obscura Blonde.

Then, on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30, you'll find us at the Jug Shop (1590 Pacific at Polk), one of San Francisco's premier bottle shops, for the debut of our new batch of the Rhinoceros Rye Wine, our 10% ABV barleywine-style ale. It's a delicious batch, and if you can't make it to this event, don't worry, we'll have bottles available at the brewery next week and it will start showing up on a shelf near you in early February.

We know how well Telegraph beers go with holiday festivities. Just be sure that if you need to get a keg or a growler from us, you plan ahead, because we like celebrating the holidays with our friends and families too, and the brewery will be closed on select days in the coming weeks.

If you need beer for Christmas, we'll be here from 9 to 5 on Monday through Wednesday of this week, with normal tasting room hours until 6 pm on Thursday. But the tasting room will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Come by on New Year's Eve for some pre-countdown festivities and beer specials, but we will be closed on New Year's Day.

Note, too, that we will have new Saturday tasting room hours starting on January 8, 2011. The tasting room will be open from 2 pm to 6 pm on Saturdays, instead of 1 pm to 4 pm. We look forward to seeing you here at the brewery soon... Happy New Year!

We are very proud to announce that Telegraph White Ale has been named one of Wine Enthusiast Magazine's Top 25 Beers of 2010!

Their editors describe it as "quite fragrant with typical witbier aromas of white florals, chamomile, orange pith, soft pear and a touch of coriander... flavors of banana peel, sweet grass, tart citrus and a kick of white pepper on the finish. Crisp and refreshing..." And if that doesn't make you thirsty, I don't know what will!

This Saturday, November 20, at San Francisco's Fort Mason, we'll be pouring a couple of our winter beers at the BevMo Holiday Beer Fest. The event features an incredible list of holiday beers from throughout the world, all in a beautiful setting with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The event runs 5:30 to 9 pm this Saturday. Tickets are still available and are $40 pre-sale.

It's that time of year where all sorts of interesting beers get released. Our own holiday tradition here at Telegraph is our Winter Ale, a beer inspired by Mexican hot chocolate and spiced with cinnamon, allspice, and sweet and smokey Ancho chili peppers. It's a rich, dark chocolatey brew that is sure to warm up even the coldest of nights. Bottles are available now and we'll be pouring draft at the brewing starting Thanksgiving weekend.

The thermometer is making us think otherwise, but we're still going to celebrate the arrival of autumn... Telegraph Oatmeal Stout launches this weekend at the tasting room. One of our favorite seasonals, the Oatmeal Stout is a big, silky black beer with tons of roasted malt character. Much fuller bodied than our Stock Porter, this is a beer for people who like flavor. Come by Thursday, Friday, or Saturday and get a pint or a growler!

In celebration of Santa Barbara's favorite summer party, we brewed a special beer available exclusively here in our home town. Our Cerveza de Fiesta is a traditional Bohemian Pilsner, well balanced between malt flavor and hop bitterness, with a dense, rich white head. It pairs perfectly with spicy food, and will cut through the heat of that rajas soft taco or grilled Ancho-rubbed carne asada.

This limited-release beer is available around town right now, in bottles and on tap at select bars and restaurants. We'll be pouring it here at the tasting room on Fiesta weekend only (August 5-7). Remember, like Fiesta, this beer will soon be just a happy memory, so be sure to pick some up soon to enjoy at your own Fiesta celebrations.

Lots of new beer in the works here at the brewery... our Spring seasonal Robust Ale is available in bottles as of today at Whole Foods Santa Barbara and JJ's Liquor, and will roll out everywhere else in the next week. Our "wild" Reserve Wheat Ale, brewed with lemon verbena and fermented with brettanomyces and lactobacillus, will also show up in the next couple weeks. Look for the Reserve at all the Southern California Whole Foods by mid-March. And then last, but certainly not least, our 10% abv Rhinoceros rye-wine will be available around the end of March. For you fans of big beers, this one for you: it has huge body and mouthfeel, balanced with several hefty hop additions. Cheers!

Launching tomorrow at the tasting room is our English-style Brown Ale! A tantalizing blend of chocolate and caramel malts creates a distinct toasty malt character, well balanced by Cascade and Northern Brewer hops. The aroma is the classic fruity ester bouquet of cask-conditioned English "real ales". Fermented with yeast from one of England's greatest ale breweries, this traditional London-style brown ale is a departure from Telegraph's other beers, but a departure we're happy to make.

Well, it doesn't really feel like fall here in Santa Barbara, but we know it's just around the corner because our Oatmeal Stout is available once again. You can find several great places around town pouring our darkest beer, including the Hungry Cat and Union Ale. Down in L.A., El Prado, City Sip, The Yard, and Pure Luck Restaurant all have it, too. We're holding on to the last days of summer here at the brewery though, and will be pouring White Ale for another couple weekends at the tasting room. We'll let you know when you'll be able to come by and grab a growler of the velvety smooth Oatmeal Stout.

There are a few events coming up soon that are worth putting on your calendar. Next weekend, we are fully booked with two events in Ventura County: The California Beer Festival will be held at Mission Park in downtown Ventura on Saturday, September 26; then, on Sunday the 27th, the Camarillo Ranch is hosting their third annual Oktoberfest featuring 12 breweries and a classic car show. We'll be pouring at both events, enjoying some live music, good food, and all that great beer. Then, in October, we're looking forward to the Santa Barbara Beer Festival at Elings Park, on Saturday October 17. You can buy tickets online at the festival website, or right here at Telegraph. The $40 entrance fee benefits Elings Park and the Santa Barbara Rugby Association's community service efforts and gets you unlimited tastes at the festival. Come by the brewery for a growler and be sure pick up a couple tickets for this great event. Last year's event sold out, so plan ahead!

This Thursday night, July 23, from 6 pm to 8 pm, we'll be celebrating the arrival of Telegraph in Arizona at the Papago Brewing Company, located at 7107 E. McDowell Rd., in Scottsdale, AZ. They'll have three taps devoted to our beers and we'll be pouring some special bottles too, including the Rhinoceros Rye Wine. If you can't make it, but you have some friends in the Phoenix area, be sure to tell them to come by and say hello. We'll be giving away some t-shirts and other goodies. Hello Grand Canyon State!

A little closer to home, you can once again find our California Ale on draft at the Cold Springs Tavern up at the top of the San Marcos Pass. And down in L.A., you can find Telegraph at a couple more gastro-pubs: Ford's Filling Station, a celebrity-spotting mecca (its chef/owner happens to be Harrison Ford's son, Ben Ford) in downtown Culver City just up the street from the Sony Pictures lot, and at The Yard (119 Broadway in downtown Santa Monica), which features an eclectic mix of art and short-film screenings every night in addition to their great food and well-selected beer menu.

Finally, if you're looking to get away from the summer heat, head up to the town of Mammoth Lakes, high in the Sierras, for the 14th Annual Mammoth Beer Festival and Bluesapalooza, held July 31 through August 2. We'll be pouring ice-cold beer in the midst of spectacular pine trees at the beer festival on Saturday along with 70 other breweries. This is an event not to be missed! See you there...

Tomorrow night, Wednesday, June 3, you'll find Telegraph at a showing of Fresh: The Movie at the Santa Barbara Public Library's Faulkner Gallery. Fresh is a new movie that celebrates local food and the many people and companies that are working hard to grow and strengthen alternatives to the industrial food and beverage supply chain that dominates agriculture and our food system in the U.S. The movie screening begins at 7 pm, but come early, because starting at 6:30, you'll find tasty samples of Santa Barbara local foods paired with Telegraph brews. A suggested donation of $5 gets you food, beer, and a movie. This will be a fun and tasty evening and we hope to see you there!

At the tasting room, we've added our White Ale to the line up for the summer, replacing the Robust Ale. The Robust is still available in bottles, but until September, we'll have refreshing and citrusy White Ale on draft. Don't forget the tasting room is now open until 8 pm on Fridays.

We have some new accounts to tell you about too: here in Santa Barbara, Beachbreak Cafe (324 State Street) is pouring Telegraph Golden Wheat; in Venice on Abbot Kinney Blvd., the Other Room has California Ale back on tap; and up north, you'll find Telegraph bottles at Santa Rosa's Bottle Barn (3331 Industrial Drive) and San Francisco's Alembic (1725 Haight Street). We've had lots of requests since we first opened our brewery doors to make a barleywine, so we finally succumbed to the pressure and brewed one. But as you probably guessed, it isn't just your run-of-the-mill high-alcohol ale. No way. We used malted rye in addition to the barley, which gives a pleasant spicy character to the beer, and added lots of Cascade hops to balance all that grainy goodness. And, just for fun, and to acknowledge our use of rye, we're calling this one Telegraph Rhinoceros--it's big, bold, and powerful. And it's also hard to find. We're hoarding all the bottles here at the brewery until we release it next month, but the good news is if you find yourself in Pasadena this weekend, Lucky Baldwin's (17 S. Raymond Ave., just off Colorado Ave.) is pouring the Rhinoceros as part of their Barleywine Festival, which runs through next weekend (April 18th through 26th). So get over to the Barleywine Festival and join the charge, or check back with us soon and we'll let you know where else you'll be able to find it.

Lastly, coming up in three weeks, the Craft Beer Fest L.A. needs to be on your calendar. On May 9, from 2 pm until 9 pm, great beer takes over the EchoPlex (1154 Glendale Blvd.) in Los Angeles for a fun-filled day of beer, live music, and gourmet pub grub. For all the San Francisco fans of Telegraph, be sure to get over to the Toronado (549 Haight St.) this weekend where they have both our California Ale and our Reserve Wheat Ale on draft. You should also get over to Monk's Kettle (3141 16th St. in the Mission District) where they have California Ale on as well. Bottles of Telegraph are available at Bi-Rite Market, Healthy Spirits, Ledger's Liquors, Monument Liquors, PlumpJack Wines, and several other "better beer stores" in the Bay Area.

So what exactly is the Reserve Wheat Ale, you ask? Well, this is our latest offering here at Telegraph. It is a "wild American ale" brewed with the addition of locally grown lemon verbena herb as well as wild Brettanomyces yeast. Think sour. The beer is refreshingly tart, with a big citrus aroma. It's complex and exciting; very reminiscent of the classic Berliner Weisse style of wheat beers brewed in Germany. It's also available in extremely limited quantities, so if you want some, get it soon. Look for it in Los Angeles at Vendome, Bottle Rock, and Wade's Wines. Down in San Diego, you can find it at South Bay Drugs and at the Linkery. Here in Santa Barbara, you can get it at the brewery or at select bottle retailers around town. If you are feeling adventurous and want to try a beer unlike anything else we've brewed, pick up a bottle soon!

Here at the tasting room, we're pouring our Robust Ale for the rest of the spring, along with the usual suspects of California Ale, Stock Porter, and Golden Wheat. The Robust is big and rich, with a great hoppy bite. Coming in at 7.5% abv, this beer is, in a sense, a Belgian-style IPA. And we can assure you it is delicious!

It's that wonderful time of the year again... today marks the release of our Telegraph Winter Ale. This special, limited release beer is inspired by Mexican-style hot chocolate, and is brewed with cinnamon, allspice, and ancho chili peppers, creating a complex, spiced brew that pairs perfectly with all your holiday desserts, from pumpkin pie to spice cookies to everyone's favorite December treat: fruitcake. Available starting today at the tasting room, be sure to come by and get a growler of our most sought-after seasonal beer. Bottles of our Winter Ale will be making their way out to retailers in Santa Barbara, L.A., and San Diego over the next couple weeks, and you'll find it in limited release at select draft accounts as well. Don't miss out!

There are a couple Telegraph events coming up soon, too, that you won't want to miss if you live in L.A. or San Diego. On Thursday, Dec. 4, from 7 to 10 pm, the Blue Palms Brewhouse in Hollywood (6124 Hollywood Blvd.) will be hosting a Telegraph Feature Night. They'll be pouring four of our beers, including the Winter Ale, with beer specials and a raffle during the evening. We'll be there enjoying the scene, so definitely come out and say hello. Then, on Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 5 to 9 pm, San Diego County's Stone Brewing will host a "Keep the Glass Night" featuring our Oatmeal Stout, Golden Wheat Ale, and a special cask of Winter Ale aged with chocolate and whole ancho chilis. We have lots of Telegraph news to pass along including a couple upcoming beer dinners, some new bars and restaurants, and a music event right here at the brewery.

First the beer dinners: on Sunday, June 22, Rustic Canyon in Santa Monica (1119 Wilshire Blvd.) will host a dinner pairing five delicious courses with beers from Telegraph, Craftsman, and other great breweries. And then, a little closer to home, SpiritLand Bistro, at the corner of Garden St. and Victoria St. in downtown Santa Barbara, will host a Telegraph beer dinner on Wednesday, July 2. This will be a four-course dinner, each paired with a different Telegraph brew. SpiritLand focuses on organic, sustainably raised foods, so you can feel good about every fantastic bite. There are two new places pouring Telegraph that you need to know about. Here in Santa Barbara, the recently renovated Chilango's Latin Gourmet (503 State St.) now has Telegraph on draft to pair with their killer burritos and other Mexican fare. And down in San Diego, the brand-new Toronado (4026 30th St.) beer bar--the SoCal outpost of San Francisco's famed Toronado--will feature Telegraph on their constantly changing 50 taps. It's a great place to try lots of rare beer offerings.

Lastly, coming up in less than two weeks, we'll be hosting a music event right here at the tasting room. On Friday, June 27th, Austin-based lo-fi indie rockers Peter and the Wolf will play an acoustic set at Telegraph as they make their way up the California coast on their current tour. The band plays atmospheric, personal songs with real passion and the show will be worth much more than the $5 cover charge. The opening band will start at 8 pm, our doors open at 7:30.

For all the San Diego fans of Telegraph, we have an event coming up that you won't want to miss. On Saturday, June 14, Hamilton's Tavern in San Diego's South Park neighborhood (1521 30th Street), will be hosting their monthly "Second Saturday" event featuring Telegraph. We'll have seven (!!!) different brews on draft all going for $3.50 a pint from 5 - 8 pm. In addition to our current line-up of the White Ale, the California Ale, the Stock Porter, and the Golden Wheat Ale, they'll also be pouring our Robust Ale, a bourbon-barrel-aged Stock Porter, and a special cask-conditioned firkin of our White Ale aged with farmer's market cherries. Hamilton's will provide complimentary food pairings, including gourmet cheeses specially chosen to pair well with the cherry-infused White Ale. We'll be down there with some t-shirts and a double-magnum bottle of California Ale. Come out and celebrate with us!

Just in time for the hot weather here in Santa Barbara, our Telegraph White Ale is now available. This is our interpretation of the classic Belgian wit style of beer, known as "white beer" because of its pale and cloudy appearance. We brew ours with orange peel, coriander, and locally grown chamomile flowers, giving the beer a subtle floral and citrusy character. At under 5% alcohol, this is a great, refreshing beer for sipping on warm afternoons. Come by the brewery and have a pint or grab a growler.

You can also try our White Ale this Saturday at the Hotel Mar Monte. We are teaming up with the talented kitchen staff at the hotel's newly renovated Bistro 1111 for another beer pairing dinner. This is a three-course meal, each course paired with a different Telegraph beer. So if you are in need of a good meal and some good beer, all with a great view of East Beach, head down to the Hotel Mar Monte (1111 Cabrillo Blvd.) on Saturday and you'll get all of that and more.

In the coming weeks, Telegraph will be pouring beer at all sorts of great events. Don't miss us at the I Madonnari Street-Painting Festival at the Santa Barbara Mission on Memorial Day weekend. We'll be at the California Festival of Beers at Avila Beach on May 24; and also at the end of May, Lucky Baldwin's Pub in Pasadena will be hosting an entire Telegraph Week (May 24-June 1) with six different Telegraph beers on tap, t-shirts, pint glasses, and a special giant bottle of Telegraph that we'll open to kick off the celebration.

Telegraph has two great events coming up that will undoubtedly appeal to different crowds, but both are worth attending. This coming Saturday, March 1, from 12 to 4 pm, Gainey Vineyards, in the Santa Ynez Valley, is hosting an MDA charity event called the Winter Wine Down. The afternoon will feature tastes of local wines and beers, as well as gourmet snacks provided by some of the best chefs in our region. For more information, click here.

And then for something completely different, on Wednesday, March 5, Brooklyn-based "punk-rock orchestra" The World/Inferno Friendship Society will be playing at La Casa de la Raza (corner of Calle Cesar Chavez and Montecito St.) with a couple local bands. KCSB 91.9 FM and Telegraph are sponsoring the event, which will feature a beer garden, performance art, and a riding demonstration by members of the BiCi Centro Bicycle Collective. Telegraph California Ale is on draft at one of Southern California's truly great beer bars: Father's Office in Santa Monica (1018 Montana Ave. at 10th St.) has added us to their selection of fine beers. So if you're craving a great burger with a great pint of Telegraph, Father's Office is the place to go. Just remember that F.O. is small and popular, and there is often a line to get in. The secret is to snag a table early and work your way down their incredible beer list!

We've also added our Stock Porter to the beer list at Piatti Ristorante in Montecito's upper village (516 San Ysidro Road at East Valley Rd.). With the cooler weather descending upon on here in Santa Barbara, a warm plate of pasta and a cool pint of Telegraph Stock Porter will certainly satisfy.

Here at the brewery, we're pouring a new fall seasonal brew: Telegraph Harvest Wheat Ale. This is a Bavarian-style amber weizen that shares the spicy clove aromas of a hefeweizen with a hint of caramel and toasted grain flavor. It's both satisfying and easy to drink, perfect for a nice fall afternoon. We'll be pouring pints and growlers until late November when our Telegraph Winter Ale launches, just in time for Thanksgiving. Come by and try some soon!

The 2007 Los Angeles County Fair Commercial Beer Competition results were just announced and we're very pleased to tell you that, for the second year in a row, Telegraph won two medals! Our Telegraph Golden Wheat Ale took Silver in the Belgian- and French-style Ale category and our Telegraph Stock Porter took Bronze in the Experimental Beer category. Lots of well-known beers and breweries won awards in this competition, so we are extremely excited to be honored with two medals. We have a new beer on draft at the brewery, so come by soon for a pint or to fill up your growler with our Telegraph Oatmeal Stout! This is a very dark beer that unites the rich, roasted malt flavors of a traditional British-style cream stout with a silky smooth mouthfeel imparted by the addition of whole-grain oats to the mash. Brewed to celebrate the recent wedding of two lovers of dark, creamy beers, our interpretation of this classic style is bigger and bolder than some other examples out there. Pair our Oatmeal Stout with smoky barbecued meats, an intense Mexican mole sauce, or a dark chocolate dessert and get ready to swoon...

The other exciting news we have is for our Los Angeles-area friends: On Monday, August 27, we are participating in a beer pairing dinner at Santa Monica's Rustic Canyon Restaurant (1119 Wilshire Blvd., between 11th and 12th Sts., 310-393-7050). They'll be pairing their farmer's market cuisine not only with Telegraph, but also with beers from Craftsman Brewing in Pasadena, and Lost Abbey Brewing in San Diego County. Telegraph has some fun events lined up this weekend. On Saturday we'll be pouring beer at the California Wine Festival at Santa Barbara's East Beach from noon until 4 pm. This is a chance to try more than 15 local beers and 200 California wines, all right on the beach with food provided by some of Santa Barbara's favorite restaurants.

Then, on Sunday, Telegraph will be the sole beer sponsor for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's annual Black & Blue Charity Ball. Grab your tux jacket and a good pair of jeans and head down to the Fess Parker DoubleTree Resort from 6 to 10 pm and enjoy some California Ale and Golden Wheat Ale paired with tasty hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, and live entertainment from the Edgar Winter Band.

Also on Sunday, if you are down in the San Diego area, a keg of Telegraph's unblended barrel-reserve porter will be pouring at the Stone Brewing Sour Ale Festival, at the Stone World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido. The unblended porter will be on draft at Stone for the next few weeks as well.

As if you needed even more reason to come by the Telegraph Tap Room, we've gone ahead and added a dart board. So now in true British fashion, you can enjoy a pint or two and "throw some arrows" with your "mates." But don't worry... our beer is still served cold.

If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, don't miss the 2nd Annual Wieners & Wine party at Cellar 205 (205 Anacapa St. at Yanonali), this Sunday, July 1, from 1 pm until sundown, where you'll be able to enjoy gourmet hotdogs and pulled pork sliders from State Street's newest eatery Lettuce B. Frank, paired with Oreana wines and Telegraph California Ale. With live music, award-winning beer and wine, and great food, this is a terrific warm-up event for the Fourth of July... get your appetites ready!

Speaking of the Fourth, if you need growlers or a keg to help celebrate Independence Day, the brewery will be open for retail sales from 11 am until 2 pm on Wednesday. So come by, grab a growler, and toast America with good American beer!

Next Thursday, July 5, is another First Thursday event in downtown Santa Barbara. On the first Thursday of every month, galleries and art-related businesses keep their doors open until 8 pm to showcase the wealth of local creativity we have here in Santa Barbara. From 5 pm until 8 pm, we'll be pouring beer at Gallery Ten Twenty-Nine (1029 State St., immediately next door to Aldo's) and enjoying the opening reception for the gallery's new show "Celebrate Art".

And finally, we have scheduled another Brewer's Dinner, this time at Bistro 1111 at the Mar Monte Hotel (1111 Cabrillo Blvd.), next Friday, July 6. It will be $30 for a three-course dinner--soup or salad, an entree of fish or chicken, and a dessert--each paired with one of our beers. Aldo's, at 1031 State St., is one of Santa Barbara's oldest Italian restaurants, and they just added Telegraph California Ale to their menu. With summer upon us, their patio right on State Street is a great place to bask in the sun with a cold pint of Telegraph in hand. The food is delicious and the people watching is unbeatable!

Today may be the actual summer solstice, but this Saturday is the big party! Santa Barbara's famous Solstice Parade begins at noon at Cota and State and heads up to Alameda Park for music, dancing, and great food. If you're planning a solstice party of your own, come by for a keg or a few growlers on Saturday afternoon; the Telegraph tasting room will be open from 1 to 4!

Of course Telegraph gets prominent mention, but more importantly the article does a great job promoting our local region as an emerging hotspot in the microbrew world. Telegraph Stock Porter is now on draft at the two wonderful restaurants located at Montecito's San Ysidro Ranch (900 San Ysidro Lane). The very high-end Stonehouse Restaurant and the more pub-like Plow & Angel are both now featuring Stock Porter along with their famously delicious food. Don't miss the gourmet mac-n-cheese at the Plow & Angel!

Lastly, don't forget that Father's Day is this coming Sunday. What better way is there to say "Thanks, Dad!" than with a fresh growler of one of Telegraph's handcrafted ales? The tasting room will be open for growler sales, as well as pint and keg sales, on Thursday and Friday from 4 to 6, and on Saturday from 1 to 4.

The Telegraph crew has a busy Memorial Day weekend planned... if you managed to score one of the hard-to-get tickets to tomorrow's California Festival of Beers at Avila Beach, we will see you there from 11 am to 3 pm. We'll be pouring all four of our current beers--California Ale, Golden Wheat Ale, Stock Porter, and Strong Ale--and enjoying a beautiful afternoon meeting 3,000 beer fans out on the Avila Beach golf course. The festival is sold out, so if you don't have tickets already, we hope you'll make it to another event to see us soon.

For everyone who will be in Santa Barbara this weekend, you shouldn't miss the 21st Annual I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival up at the Mission. The Italian Market at the festival will feature live music, food, and cold Telegraph California Ale all day Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. This is a great charity event benefiting the Children's Creative Project, which supports art education for elementary school children.

If you find yourself in the Santa Ynez Valley this weekend, or any weekend soon, consider having dinner at American Flatbread (225 W. Bell St., in downtown Los Alamos). Our Telegraph Golden Wheat Ale is a wonderful accompaniment to their incredible wood-fired pizzas made with all-local and all-organic ingredients. The restaurant's hours are limited however: Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 to 10 pm. It's a great way to end a day of wine tasting in the Valley.

The last of our series of three brewer's dinners at Zaffiro Restaurant (in Goleta's Camino Real Center, near Home Depot) is next Wednesday night at 7 pm. The menu will feature four courses, each paired with a Telegraph brew, including beer-steamed mussels matched with our Golden Wheat Ale and a rich, porter-infused, chocolate-espresso cake partnered with our Stock Porter. This is definitely a dinner not to be missed, and at $34.95 per person, is a real bargain. Seating is limited, so to ensure you can attend, call Zaffiro at 968-6201 before the end of this week to make your reservations. We hope to see you there!

Also, we are very pleased that one of Santa Barbara's finest gourmet grocery stores is now carrying Telegraph. Lazy Acres (302 Meigs Rd., at Cliff Dr., on the Mesa) has both California Ale and Golden Wheat Ale in 750-ml bottles on their shelves.

There is a brand-new restaurant in town featuring Telegraph: The Hungry Cat (www.thehungrycat.com, 1134 Chapala St. at Anapamu St.) is the local off-shoot of Hollywood's Hungry Cat, created by renowned L.A. chefs David Lentz and Suzanne Goin. The menu features amazingly fresh seafood and shellfish prepared very simply. We can tell you from experience that their crab cakes are incredible! Pair some of their amazing dishes with a pint of Telegraph and you are set for a wonderful meal.

We have lots of great events coming up in the next few months, including beer festivals, tastings, and dinners, and you'll be the first to hear about them by checking this page often. For now, we want to tell you about the brewer's dinners we have planned. Telegraph will be doing a series of three Wednesday night brewer's dinners at Zaffiro restaurant at the Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta, on March 14, April 11, and May 9. The three dinners will be different, but all will feature pairings of each of the Telegraph beers with a different course. As an added bonus, we'll be pouring our new Telegraph Strong Ale, clocking in at nearly 7.5% alcohol, at the second and third dinners. Both Zaffiro's executive chef Amy McNelis and Telegraph's Brian Thompson will be on hand discussing the food and beer, so you'll learn something in addition to enjoying a great meal. Reservations are required and seats are limited so call Zaffiro at 968-6201 to ensure that you don't miss out on what will undoubtedly be three very fun evenings!

Ventura County folks have a chance to enjoy a brewer's dinner as well. We will be at J.J. Brewsky's in Camarillo on Tuesday, March 27. This dinner will also feature Telegraph's full line up, including the new Strong Ale, with each beer again being paired with a different course. If you are interested in attending this dinner, please call the restaurant at 482-5249 for reservations.

I find that one of the most rewarding aspects about being a brewer is hearing from beer enthusiasts and casual beer drinkers alike about how much they enjoy drinking Telegraph beer. When someone faced with a long line-up of taps, or with retail shelves packed with so many different microbrews, chooses to drink one of our handcrafted ales over all the others, I take that as the highest compliment. But it is also very flattering to have the quality of our beers recognized and acknowledged by trained beer judges and beer industry professionals. And that is why we are so excited to announce that Telegraph Golden Wheat Ale recently won a gold medal and Telegraph California Ale won a bronze medal in the Belgian and French-Style Ale category at the 2006 Los Angeles County Fair Commercial Beer Competition. In celebration of these awards, our gold-medal winning Golden Wheat Ale has replaced our California Ale on draft at Elements Restaurant located at 129 E. Anapamu St., in downtown Santa Barbara. With its views of the Courthouse and the sunken gardens, Elements is a terrific placed to enjoy a nice, cold Telegraph after work or anytime.

Also, we are excited to tell you that Spike's, located at 570 Higuera St. in downtown San Luis Obispo, now has both Telegraph California Ale and Telegraph Golden Wheat Ale on draft. Brewsky's Restaurant & Bar, located in downtown Camarillo, at 2433 Ventura Blvd. Brewsky's is a stylish place, featuring bistro-style food and 15 beers on tap; the historic building in which it is located has high ceilings, lots of light, and a great bar that stretches the entire length of the restaurant. Last, but not least, head up to the Santa Barbara Mission this weekend (Saturday, May 27 – Monday, May 29) for the I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival held in the Old Mission Plaza. Not only will you see some amazing chalk artwork right there on the street, but you’ll also be able to enjoy great food paired with you favorite local beer, Telegraph California Ale! The festival runs 10 am – 6 pm all three days.

Next week, May 15th – 21st, microbreweries across the country are celebrating American Craft Beer Week and Telegraph is joining the party! We want to send a special thanks to all the golfers who participated in the third annual KTYD 99.9 FM “Rockin’ on the Fairway” Golf Classic last month.

Telegraph was out pouring beer samples at the 11th tee and we had a great time meeting the golfers and enjoying a beautiful afternoon away from the brewery! Another great local restaurant is now pouring Telegraph! Elements Restaurant & Bar (129 E. Anapamu) now has our California Ale on tap. Better still, all pints are $1 off during their after-work happy hour every weekday. Telegraph California Ale is now on tap at The Press Room (15 E. Ortega St.). A great locals bar, The Press Room is a perfect alternative to the crowded State St. bars, and they have a well-chosen line-up of beers on tap.

All the pool sharks out there will be happy to learn that Telegraph California Ale is now on tap at Q’s Billiard Club (409 State St.)! So if you’ve got game, pull out your best Tom Cruise impersonation and start hustling your friends for free pints of Telegraph!

For those among you who are handy in the kitchen (or at least not intimidated by turning on the stove!) this week we are including a recipe for Telegraph Pot Roast. This is perfect comfort food for these rainy nights we’ve been having, and paired with a pint of brewery-fresh California Ale, it is the perfect excuse to stay in and stay dry. If you occasionally have trouble finishing a growler before the last pint starts going flat, this is a terrific way to use what you don’t drink

Telegraph Pot Roast
(serves 6 to 8 depending on size of roast):

Rub a 3-4 lb chuck roast all over with salt, pepper, and dried thyme. Brown the roast in a large, heavy pot with 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat, 3-4 minutes per side. Remove meat to a plate and add to the pot one large onion, diced, and two carrots, diced. Sautee the vegetables until soft, about 5-8 minutes. Now add 1¼ cups Telegraph California Ale, 3 tablespoons of ketchup, and a bay leaf to the pot with the vegetables. Bring the liquid to a boil and return the meat to the pot. Cook the meat until an instant-read thermometer reads 200F, about an hour and a half. Then add 2-3 cups of potatoes and carrots cut into 1½ inch pieces and cook for an additional 20 minutes. You should have perfectly cooked vegetables and a very tender roast swimming in a deliciously rich beer gravy. You can thicken the gravy, if necessary, by reducing it in the pot after removing the meat and veggies. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and enjoy!

We are excited to announce that Telegraph California Ale is now on tap at Z's Tap house at Zodo's Bowling & Beyond in Goleta! So pull on the bowling shoes and go and have a couple pints of Telegraph!

Also, this is your last reminder about the Telegraph Brewing Launch Party that we are throwing this Thursday, January 26th. Grab some friends and come on over to Dargan's Irish Pub, at 18 E. Ortega St. in downtown Santa Barbara , from 6 - 8 pm. We'll be offering beer specials, free appetizers, and
t-shirt giveaways! This is your chance to be among the first lucky people to try Santa Barbara's newest microbrewed beer in one of the friendliest bars in town. See you there!

Finally, we do have one more event planned: an open house at the brewery. Come over to see the home of Telegraph Brewing at 416 North Salsipuedes St., between Haley and Gutierrez streets, in Santa Barbara, from 12 - 4 pm this Saturday, January 28th. Happy New Year to everyone....and with the new year comes the much anticipated Telegraph Brewing Co. launch party at Dargan's Irish Pub, in at 18 E. Ortega St. in downtown Santa Barbara. The party kicks off on Thursday, January 26, from 6-8 pm so come down and celebrate with us as we hoist a pint. We'll be giving out t-shirts and pint glasses throughout the night along with specials on Telegraph's own California Ale so don t miss out!

Good news from the brewery: Except for a few minor details, installation of our equipment and construction on our building are complete! And that means fresh, local beer is just around the corner! We've already completed a few test brews and we are busy getting everything ready for Telegraph Brewing Company's grand opening... these first batches taste great and we can't wait to get fresh pints to all of you.

Check back here soon and we'll let you know when beer  can be purchased directly from the brewery.
